GERALDINE JAMES OBE is an award-winning actress, she received an OBE in 2003 and
is a much-admired member of her profession, described by the internationally-famous
theatre director Sir Peter Hall as "among the great English classical actresses of
her generation, " She has made innumerable television, theatre and film appearances,
winning a Golden Lion award for 'Best Actress' at the prestigious Venice Biennale
Film Festival for the film 'She's Been Away; She is also especially well-known for
playing the heroine Sara Layton in the TV series 'The Jewel in the Crown" in 1984,
the 'baddie' in the hit film 'Calendar Girls" and as Mrs Pincher, the long-suffering
mother to David Walliams unweaned son Harvey in 'Little Britain ; Most recently she
has played the role of Sherlock Holmes' loyal housekeeper, Mrs Hudson, in Guy Ritchie's
new film
about the famous detective starring Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law. Ritchie has described
her as one of the best and most professional actresses he has ever worked with. She
has also just completed a film for Tim Burton of Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland,'
Geraldine is always busy but was pleased to become a Patron of Centre Stage Academy.
